Q: Is it true that once you go to a chiropractor, you have to go for life?
Answer: This is a loaded question. You would never ask a dentist the same question because you already know the answer, your teeth would eventually fall out or suffer needlessly. When you exercise, do you only need to go one time and your fit for life, of course not. The truth: Your spine, like your teeth or your muscles require maintenance. You only get one spine, and it’s the same spine you had as a child, and it’s the same one you will grow old with. If you don’t maintain it, you may not be able to work or enjoy your life. Take care of it, and you will maintain your upward mobility long into your golden years.
Q: Is it okay for me to try to adjust myself?
Answer: No. Especially in the neck. Most people have limited education in human anatomy. In the neck, there are small arteries which supply circulation to the back 1/3 of the brain, which can result in major issues if you cause injury to any of these vessels. Only corrections by professional skilled chiropractor can significantly reduce the risk of injury while providing benefit for your condition. Non-specific self-adjustment can also lead to ligament laxity which can cause instability and pre-mature arthritis.
Q: Is it natural to have some discomfort following a chiropractic adjustment?
Answer: 50% of patients don’t feel any discomfort at all following an adjustment. The sensitivity of patient’s nervous system determines how much, if any discomfort you will feel following an adjustment. 50% of patients can have some mild discomfort which is usually rectified by applying ice for up to 10 minutes or a moist hot towel for 5 – 7 minutes.
Q: How long does a typical treatment last?
Answer: The treatment duration will vary depending on your individual condition and how long it has been present.
Q: What types of chiropractic are available in Pahrump?
Answer: Pahrump has chiropractors that perform different techniques with some being more aggressive than others. Some use a twisting method, others use a drop system, and others may use a device to administer care. Each has its purpose.
